Agile Coach, Scrum Master, Lead Project Manager

 

Coached Press Ganey’s first Agile team. Matured the team so the business began to receive the benefits they anticipated from Agile. Influenced migration of PMO toward more Agile practices. Functioned in  the role of Agile Coach, Scrum Master, and Project Manager.

Selected Contributions:

l  Promoted Agile Methodologies in the process of establishing an Agile environment, including mentored team members and business stakeholders on Agile roles and responsibilities. (Engrained Scrum roles of Scrum Master, Product Owner, and Team Member).

l  Fully implemented Scrum and aided first Agile teams to self-organize. (14+ collocated people).

l  Responsible for leading Scrum-of-Scrums to keep multiple Agile/Scrum teams coordinated & focused.

l  Lead all aspects of Scrum development; release planning, iteration planning, daily stand-ups, sprint demos, retrospective, and managing product backlog etc.

l  Coached a new Lexington, Mass., team on Agile until a permanent Scrum Master was hired for that team.

l  Lead a project using Agile that involved four (4) geographies of Press Ganey employees and an offshore partner in Brazil. Approximately 40 programming and QA team members are involved in the project. The Product Management team consists of four members.

l  Prepared communications for the Board of Directors on a weekly basis using key indicators of this high profile, complex application.

l  Created a method for supporting production systems without having them disrupt the agile teams.

l  Fostered the creation of active Communities of Practice. Ongoing communities include ones focused on Scrum and Engineering Practices.

l  Provide oversight the activities of the YMCA of Michiana. The Board oversees operations of the Michiana Family YMCA, Camp Eberhart, and Urban Youth Services.

l  Review and provide guidance related to the financial aspects of the YMCA of Michiana. Monthly reviews include the operating income and expenses, capital expenses, and investments.

l  Chaired the Strong Kids campaign for 2008. Funds raised are 100% directed to scholarships for children and families who could otherwise not take advantage of the programs and activities offered by the YMCA.

2010

 Coached middle school teams at LaSalle Primary Academy.  In FIRST (for Inspiration,  Recognition of Science & Technology), coached students research, problem solving, teamwork, and “gracious professionalism.”

l  Lead one team to qualify for state tournament despite team forming only 5 weeks ahead of our regional.
